Subdomains 0.6.6 Released
Firstly a big bug fix. Anyone installing the plugin for the first time at version 0.6.5 would have found that it didn’t really work very well. The move to wordpress.org hosting changed the folder name the plugin sits in and kind of broke the install function that’s supposed create the required database table.
Thank you to Eric and Lisa for providing useful feedback that enabled me to track down the problem. No “thank you” to the guy who sent me a rather rude email and still expected me to I spend my free time supporting him.
The new features in this release are the Tag filtering on a subdomain and Main blog on subdomain features mentioned in the previous post. I’ve also been working on reducing the memory usage on large sites, though there is more of this to come.
If you already have the plugin installed you should be able to updated from inside wordpress. Otherwise you can find it here.

I started on 0.6.5 and wondered if I was doing something wrong, but the upgrade seems to have fixed everything. Thanks for a great, great plugin that takes care of a lot of modifications – especially being able to use different themes for different categories, and have the archives appear as indexes. Much appreciated, thanks for your updates on this.
Just out of curiosity, how are posts in multiple categories handled? Also, with the tag filtering, would it still be possible to see tags across all subdomains?
Hi,
If I recall correctly the categories are done in alphabetical order. I will check as part of my work to try and reduce memory usage has affect these areas and so there is a chance it is now done on the primary key id (i.e order of creation) of the categories.
I’m not quite sure what you mean about tags across all subdomains. could you elaborate.
Thanks for your support, it’s much appreciated.
Regards,
Alex
Hi Alex,
First I would like to say thank you for such a great plugin. This is something i am looking for my website. I have couple of things to clear…
1) Can I use wildcard DNS for my website… I.e. it would exclude the need of creating individual sub domain for each category.
2) I want my sub-categories to be my website sub domains, is it achievable?
I am really looking forward to use this plugin to make my website more customisable. Please help me to achieve this.
Thank you
-Prasad
Your subdomain plugin is not working. I am trying to exclude one category and I am trying to save the settings but its not working. setting remain same.
Does it works with old version of WordPress?
